I’m 45% through The Mystic and can’t put it down. A.L. Pitcher nails the balance between massive, "Forever Void" world-building and the personal weight of every character's choice. It’s dense and atmospheric, but the momentum is incredible for such a big book. I can't wait to see where the second half leads!

This novel delivers a dark, imaginative blend of urban fantasy and mystery, following Regina Ford as she’s pushed far beyond the limits she once respected. At first, she operates within the strict boundaries set by the Human Courts and the ancient laws of Atlantis, but the threat posed by the sorcerer Omar forces her into dangerous, uncharted territory. The story quickly expands into a high-stakes journey filled with magical politics, shifting loyalties, and deeper questions about identity and power.
One of the book’s strongest elements is its world-building. From the shadowy corners of New York City to the mystical realms tied to Gehenna and distant sanctuaries, the settings feel vivid and layered. The introduction of Scorcha, the vampire servant, adds tension and intrigue, while Regina’s temporary role as an Aether Mystic raises the stakes in compelling ways.
While the plot can feel dense at times, the central mystery—who is trying to kill Regina—keeps readers engaged. Overall, it’s an ambitious and immersive read for fans of supernatural thrillers.
